Commemorate The Fall of Kuala Lumpur (11.1.1942)
Organizer: Malaysia WWII History Society KLSCAH
On 8 December 1941, the Japanese army launched a sudden invasion of the Malayan Peninsula, igniting the flames of war and marking the beginning of the Malayan Campaign. On 11 January 1942, Japanese forces captured Kuala Lumpur, the capital of the Malayan Peninsula- an event historically known as the Fall of Kuala Lumpur. This moment occurred during the Second World War and formed a significant chapter of the Pacific War. With the fall of Kuala Lumpur, British Commonwealth and Allied forces were compelled to withdraw, and the iron heel of Japanese military rule descended upon this land.
Following the occupation, Kuala Lumpur and its surrounding areas entered a long and oppressive period of Japanese rule. The military occupation not only shattered the existing social order but also inflicted profound and lasting trauma upon the local population.
In remembrance of this history that must never be forgotten, the Malaysia WWII History Society KLSCAH hereby organises the Kuala Lumpur Remembrance Day. Through this solemn observance, we honour the compatriots who perished amid war and atrocities, mourn the years of suffering endured, and seek to remind future generations to cherish the hard-earned peace, in the hope that such tragedies will never be repeated.
The public is warmly invited to attend and join us in commemorating the Fall of Kuala Lumpur, remembering history, and cherishing the hard-earned peace.
