The 7th Civil Society Award 2019

KLSCAH received 8 nominations, including Persatuan Tindakan Alam Sekitar Kuala Langat, MySkills Foundation, Humanitarian Care Malaysia(MyCARE) , So Tang Heng, Tang Ah Chai, Professor Dr Mohd Tajuddin Mohd, Chong Keat Aun and Wong Yan Ke.

First Winner: Persatuan Tindakan Alam Sekitar Kuala Langat

Reason for award:
A grassroots environmental group was formed last year in response to the issue of plastic waste in Jenjarom, Selangor. Despite having no prior experience in campaigning, the local community members have been diligent in their efforts. They have learned to write proper complaint letters and follow up on environmental issues with local authorities.

Second Winner: Tang Ah Chai

Reason for award:
Tang Ah Chai has been actively engaged in the Chinese community and various civil society organizations for an extensive period,  demonstrating an unwavering commitment to advancing civil society.

Third Winner: Professor Dr Mohd Tajuddin Mohd

Nominated by: Puven Yuvarajan

Reason for award:
Professor Dr Mohd Tajuddin Mohd is recognized as an open-minded Malay Muslim elite, who has promoted numerous positive changes in Malaysia’s multicultural society.
