The 9th KLSCAH Civil Society Award 2024 is now open for nominations until September 30th.
Launched in 2008, the KLSCAH Civil Society Award is presented biennially and has now entered its 9th award so far. Under the theme “Upholding Civil Rights, Opening Up Democratic Space”, it aims to recognize individuals and groups for their contributions to civil society and encourage more people and organizations to actively promote social reforms.
The Award Committee for this year includes former BERSIH Executive Director Yap Swee Seng, former BERSIH Chairperson Maria Chin Abdullah, former Centre for Independent Journalism (CIJ) Executive Officer Masjaliza Hamzah, Dr. Helen Ting Mu Hung of UKM’s Institute of Malaysian and International Studies, former SUHAKAM Commissioner Jerald Joseph, Chairman of IKRAM Hj Badlishah Sham, and SUARAM Executive Director Sevan Doraisamy.
The committee will select three winners (individuals or groups), each of whom will receive RM 5,000 in prize money and a certificate. All accepted nominees will also be presented with certificates.
The Civil Society Award ceremony will be held on December 10th at Auditorium Cheng Yi, first floor of KLSCAH.
