The submission of nomination for the 8th Civil Society Awards has, at its closing date on 30 September 2022, received 14 nomination which include 8 organizations and 6 individuals, all are noted for their contributions to society.

As of September 30, the nominees of the 8th Civil Society Awards organized by the Kuala Lumpur And Chinese Assembly Hall (KLSCAH) are Dr. Narjit Singh, Sambung Sekolah, Teoh Beng Hock Trust for Democracy, Lightup Borneo, Sydney Yap Xi Ni (Former news presenter), Ain Husniza Saiful Nizam (Activist of the #MakeSchoolsASaferPlace movement), Pua Lay Peng (Community organizer), Persatuan Pusat Perkhidmatan Geha Bodhi, Wong Su Zane (Counselor), Undi18, Persatuan Sahabat Warisan Kuala Lumpur Dan Selangor (PESAWA), Ajar-ajar Malaysia, Jeffrey Phang Fatt Kong (Chairman of MyPJ) and Hui Charity Association.

A panel of judges will assess thereafter select therefrom three (3) organizations and or individuals. The panel of judges are K. Arumugam, Zaid Kamaruddin, Masjaliza Hamzah, Jerald Joseph, Yap Swee Seng, Helen Ting Mu Hung and Ngeow Chow Ying.

Each winner will receive cash RM5,000 together with a trophy and certificate.

The 8th Annual Civil Society Awards Ceremony will be held on 10 December 2022 (Saturday) at 7:00 pm in Cheng Yi Auditorium KLSCAH (1st Floor).

KLSCAH has been organizing the Civil Society Awards since 2008, which aims to give recognition and appreciation to organizations and individuals for their contribution to the society, and further encourage them to participate in advocating social reform, defending civil rights, and creating more safe spaces for freedom and democracy.
