吉隆坡暨雪兰莪中华大会堂成立于1923年；会所建筑则是在民国廿三年（1934年）落成，并由雪兰莪苏丹殿下主持开幕典礼。马来西亚文化艺术及文物部于2007年将隆雪华堂建筑列为国家文化遗产，2005年也曾拨款修护一楼讲堂。
一座好的建筑，原则上必须包含三大要素，即实用、坚固、美观。
作为一个公共空间，近80年来，熙来攘往，人们在隆雪华堂这座建筑里忙于开会、聆听讲座、观赏舞台演出、出席宴庆，处理各种事务，以及参加各类活动等。众人一贯的方向，直奔礼堂、讲堂、会议室、办公室、厕所；目光的焦点，自然落在讲台、舞台、主讲人、演出者，主持人。或许没有闲暇，也没有习惯在迈向大会堂的当儿，远距离看看这座建筑的风貌，近距离观察大门的装饰、发现不同的柱子、各具特色的柱头、触摸墙壁和楼梯的栏杆，然后上到一楼抬头仰望穹隆的结构和造型。
我们常说：“人民的眼睛是雪亮的”，或者某某的眼睛是锐利的。但是，有时不必过于自负，因为未经训练的眼睛，未必看得出真相，未必发觉表象背后的含义和故事；更严重的是经常掉以轻心、视若无睹，即使看过千遍也丝毫没有新发现。如果讨论的主题是建筑，那么，在大多数未经训练的眼中，所谓的建筑，不论古今、不论风格、不论材料与颜色，往往只不过是一个个容纳桌椅的“盒子”。
所以，从今天起，偶尔不妨放慢脚步，训练我们的眼睛，好好看看这座建筑。
遥想1930年代的吉隆坡，像隆雪华堂这样的规模（图1），可算是豪华建筑之一。礼堂的设计（图2），包括楼上的格局，是演出和社交场地的高雅选择。我国前首相拿督斯里阿都拉巴达威曾在此举行婚宴。在我国，除了宗教建筑之外，有圆顶的建筑并不算多，而且多半属于公共建筑。圆顶往往呈现雄伟稳重托高的气势，建筑外观占了一些优势。走到室内看圆顶的内部（图4），穹隆是另一种风貌。四边拱形结构衬起半个圆球。圆球平分八片；圆形的中空，正是外观上圆顶升高的部分。
是否留意到大会堂的柱子特别多？
柱子是由柱础、柱身和柱头组成的垂直支撑物。柱头和柱身的变化，显示不同的风格。古希腊时代发展出来的多立克式（Doric order）、爱奥尼亚式（Ionic order）以及科林斯式（Corinthian order），成为引领西方古典主义潮流的柱式，长时期对世界各地的建筑产生深远的影响。
涡旋形装饰的柱头（图6、7）是爱奥尼亚式普遍的装饰形式。花型或水草性装饰（图8、9）
跨进隆雪华堂大门之前，是否曾抬头看看门上风光？类似翅膀的装饰，像不像空军部队的徽章设计？（图10，11）楼梯是衔接楼下与楼上的必经通道。这种弧形的设计，免除一分生硬，呈现流畅的动感。（图12）
