Lately our society has been discussing or rather debating on the Rohingya refugee issue. Thousands desperate and hungry refugees have arrived in Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia in recent weeks while thousands more migrants are adrift at sea. Many has been asking who are these Rohingyas and why are they risking themselves by leaving their homeland even with an overcrowded vessel?<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s time for all of us to learn the background and history of ethnic Rohingya as well as the discrimination faced by them in Myanmar, and to have some exposure and discussion on the human trafficking issue. \u201cSeed of Hatred\u201d is a 30-minute documentary which highlight the persecution of Rohingya Muslims and the discrimination faced by other ethnic groups in Myanmar. After the film screening, we will invite two speakers to share with us the history and persecution of ethnic Rohingya at Myanmar, the situation and challenges faced by Rohingya refugees in Malaysia and also the issue of human trafficking. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Speakers:
\n(1) Aegile Fernandez<\/strong><\/span>, who is the program director of Tenaganita, a human rights group fighting for rights of women, refugee and migrant worker. She is also a member to the National Council for Anti Trafficking in Persons.
\n(2) Lau Ka Mei<\/strong><\/span>, an activist from Hong Kong focusing on worker\u2019s right and female rights, currently a freelance columnist residing at Malaysia.<\/p>\n
