{"id":16458,"date":"2013-03-05T17:37:48","date_gmt":"2013-03-05T09:37:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/staging.klscah.org.my\/2013\/03\/16458.html"},"modified":"2020-09-30T15:15:03","modified_gmt":"2020-09-30T07:15:03","slug":"gbm-statement-on-13th-general-election-%e9%a9%ac%e6%9d%a5%e8%a5%bf%e4%ba%9a%e8%a1%8c%e5%8a%a8%e6%96%b9%e7%95%a5%e8%81%94%e7%9b%9f%e5%af%b9%e7%ac%ac%e5%8d%81%e4%b8%89%e5%b1%8a%e5%85%a8%e5%9b%bd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/klscah.org.my\/en\/2013\/03\/16458.html","title":{"rendered":"GBM STATEMENT ON 13th GENERAL ELECTION \u9a6c\u6765\u897f\u4e9a\u884c\u52a8\u65b9\u7565\u8054\u76df\u5bf9\u7b2c\u5341\u4e09\u5c4a\u5168\u56fd\u5927\u9009\u58f0\u660e"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Gabungan Bertindak Malaysia [GBM] a multi-ethnic, multi-faith, non-partisan Coalition of 25 NGOs is committed to the goal of Building a Better Malaysia.<\/p>\n<p>Fully cognizant that the General Election 13 represents a historic crossroad in our Nation\u2019s journey to become a viable and mature democratic polity;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>We call upon all Political Parties:-<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\">i.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0To respect the People&#8217;s desire to have free, fair and clean elections and to uphold the principles and processes of democratic elections;<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #800080;\"> ii.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0To campaign on the basis of policies and programmes that will benefit the Rakyat and the Nation, and not on the basis of maligning each other;<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #800080;\"> iii.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0To pledge not to manipulate and exploit issues pertaining to religion, ethnicity, sexual-orientation and creed; and <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #800080;\"> iv.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0To condemn and refrain from any acts of political violence. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>We call upon all Institutions of State:-<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">i.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0To uphold the principles of impartiality and neutrality as enshrined in the Federal Constitution; <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #008000;\"> ii.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0To oversee and conduct the elections in an independent and non-partisan manner\u00a0 as prescribed by the Constitution and legislation in force (Election Commission);\uff1b<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #008000;\"> iii.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0To adhere to the highest standards of professionalism\u00a0 in managing the affairs of the Nation during the \u2018Interim government\u2019 phase, and in assisting the Election Commission to manage the electoral processes (Public Services and Security Forces); <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #008000;\"> iv.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0To uphold the cardinal principle of separation of powers in adjudicating on cases pertaining to the conduct and outcomes of the elections , without fear or favour (Judiciary); <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #008000;\"> v.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0To respect the verdict of the People and to ensure a peaceful transfer of power post GE 13. We believe this will restore the confidence of the people in the free, fair and clean electoral process, as well as boost the image of Malaysia in the eyes of the world community.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, we must be conscious that a functioning, viable democracy does not end with the election day. The people must take responsibility of our future and hold the government and political parties responsible to honour the promises made during the Elections.
